The Nantucket Lobster Trap was originally opened by our grandfather Ernie. Back then, it was DryShoal Cleaners, a laundromat. In the mid 1970's our father Larry, along with Ernie, ran it as a commercial food distribution center know as The Commissary. By the late 70's it had evolved it into our beloved Lobster Trap.
We are a small family owned & operated seasonal restaurant open from May through October serving a variety of fresh New England style seafood. We specialize in North Atlantic Lobsters ranging from 1 to 5 pounds! .
We appreciate a casual family atmosphere where you can come enjoy great seafood prepared simply, good drink and fine company.
In the winter months starting in November, we can be found out on the water harvesting Nantucket Bay Scallops, known to us as "The Finest Kind!"
Bay scallops are small, sweet and delicious. Some claim it the tastiest scallop in the entire world, calling it the "black truffle of the sea".
Nantucket Bay Scallops hold a special place in our hearts and have for generations. They are a part of of our identity. Each year we sustainably harvest our annual quota, preserve, seal & flash freeze our stock in preparation for the summer restaurant season. We take pride in our ability to offer these top quality scallops.
